This foundation was established in 1993 by Jahns’ daughter, Barbara Roselieb-Jahns, and her husband, Carl Heinz Roselieb. It contains 180 paintings and works on paper by Rudolf Jahns (1896 – 1983). The foundation is devoted to supporting the visual arts and, more specifically, to the continued restoration and research into Rudolf Jahns’ work by examining his exhibitions and the publications from these exhibitions. Since 1994, the foundation has given a grant of 10,000 euros every two years in the form of the Rudolf Jahns Prize to art historians, publicists and other professionals relaying art ideas. In 2006, the Rudolf Jahns Prize presented 24,000 euros for a residency. A catalogue raisonné of the artist’s entire work was published in 2003. Since then, the works of art that comprise this foundation have been on permanent loan to the Sprengel Museum Hannover. Paintings by Rudolf Jahns from the foundation can always be viewed at the museum. The Sprengel Museum Hannover, in co-operation with the foundation, organises exhibitions of the artist’s work and through generous loans of Jahn’s works assists in the mounting of group shows where he is featured.
